Rotary actuator applications & machine map
Where HN-series actuators replace OEM units in India — by industry, with the machines our customers run. All photographs are real field installations.
Drilling jumbos, shotcrete, underground loaders
The heaviest wear environment we serve. Dust, shock loads and non-stop cycling are exactly where the helical design earns its keep — the sliding spline absorbs shock better than any gear rack.
| Actuator position | Typical build | Machine types |
|---|---|---|
| Drill boom swing / positioning | HN30-73-180 | Face drilling jumbos, bolters |
| Shotcrete nozzle manipulator rotation | HN30-19-360 | Wet-mix shotcreting trolleys |
| Loader bucket / arm articulation | HN30-47-180 | Underground LHDs |
Machines seen in the field: Atlas Copco / Epiroc Boomer-type rigs, Sandvik DD-series drills, Furukawa and Junjin jumbos, Caterpillar and Komatsu underground loaders, Boart Longyear drills, domestic rigs by PRD, Sunrock and others.
Excavator attachments, where the growth is
India's excavator fleet is exploding and attachment penetration — tilt hitches, grabs, mulchers — is still in its infancy. That is the next five years of actuator demand. Our HN50 weld-base series replaces PowerTilt-type tilt mechanisms across 1–25 t carriers.
| Actuator position | Typical build | Machine class |
|---|---|---|
| Tilt hitch / quick-coupler tilt | HN50 series | 1 – 25 t excavators |
| Grab / clamshell rotation | HN20 / HN40 | Material-handling fronts |
| Attachment swing (milling, crushing) | HN30 | 10 – 25 t carriers |
AWP boom rotation, utility trucks, municipal fleets
Straddle mounting is the rule here — never cantilever a man-lifting boom. We supply HN20 builds with low-temp seals and steel balance-valve bodies for this duty.
| Actuator position | Typical build | Machine types |
|---|---|---|
| Boom / basket rotation | HN20-9-160 | Boom lifts, scissor variants |
| Insulated arm articulation | HN20 | Utility / line-maintenance trucks |
| Trash-container tip & rotate | HN20 / HN30 | Garbage trucks, skip handlers |
Valves, solar, agriculture, ships, defence
| Application | Typical build | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Ball / butterfly valve operation | HN70 | Custom angles, valve-control execution |
| Solar tracker slew | HN10 / HN30 | Photovoltaic single-axis trackers |
| Agricultural steering & header positioning | HN10 / HN20 | Harvesters, steering axles |
| Deck equipment, hatch covers | HN30 with marine coating | Corrosion-protected build |
From component to installed machine
All brand names visible in photographs are the property of their respective owners and are shown only to describe typical machines and installations. We supply compatible replacement actuators — never original parts — and compatibility is established per part number.
Choosing an actuator for your machine
Which actuator suits a drilling jumbo boom?
The HN30 series. Typical builds are HN30-73-180 for boom swing and positioning, HN30-19-360 for shotcrete nozzle manipulators and HN30-47-180 for underground loader articulation.
Which actuator is used for aerial work platform basket rotation?
HN20 builds such as HN20-9-160, with low-temperature seals and steel balance-valve bodies. Mount them straddle-style — never cantilever a man-lifting boom.
What rotates an excavator tilt hitch?
A weld-base helical actuator. The HN50 series replaces PowerTilt-type tilt mechanisms on 1–25 t carriers; grabs and clamshells use HN20 or HN40, and milling or crushing attachments use HN30.
Can a hydraulic rotary actuator operate a valve?
Yes. The HN70 valve-control execution turns ball and butterfly valves to any angle and holds position with zero internal leakage.
Are rotary actuators used on solar trackers and farm machinery?
Yes. HN10 and HN30 units slew photovoltaic single-axis trackers, and HN10 or HN20 units handle steering and header positioning on harvesters.
Do you build actuators for marine and corrosive environments?
Yes. Deck equipment and hatch covers use HN30 builds with a corrosion-protected marine coating.
